Variance Requests

Variances are not waivers or exceptions. They are specifically listed in the code and are alternative ways to meet intent of the code when hardships exist. Staff and developers coordinate daily to comply with the code (preliminary meetings, technical reviews, staff review of potential variance requests by applicant). Common variances include: trees, zoning, signs, utility infrastructure (sewer, gas, water, electric); storm water, water quality (detention & water quality ponds or structures); topography (elevation, slopes, grading requirements); FHA requirements for minimum/maximum slopes for housing; infill development.
